About
This deciduous tree up to 15m tall with three-lobed, bristle-toothed leaves up to 15cm long, the lowers surfaces covered with a greyish down. Panicles of scented, white flowers are followed by bristly, ribbed fruits up to 2.5cm long.

Pterostyrax can be deciduous trees or large shrubs, with peeling bark, simple leaves and drooping panicles of small, 5-lobed, bell-shaped flowers held beneath the branches, and followed by small ribbed fruits.
