About
A rare Saussurea from the highest reaches of the Himalaya, forming a dense rosette of broadly ovate leaves enclosed in a tight ball of cottony, snow-white hairs (obvallata, enclosed), with small, purple flowers visible inside in late summer. A companion to S. gossipifera in extreme alpine cultivation, requiring a very well-drained, cool alpine house.
