A large, deciduous shrub to about 2m from western China with obovate, pale green leaves that turn vivid red and orange in autumn, and small, solitary or clustered, pale yellow flowers in spring, followed by coral-red to dark red berries. A handsome ornamental barberry prized for its magnificent autumn colour and fruiting display.
