About the genus

Podocarpus comprises both evergreen shrubs and trees, characterized by leaves that are typically arranged in two ranks, although they may spiral. The foliage can be linear or narrowly lanceolate. The genus produces plum-like, fleshy fruits only when both male and female specimens are present in proximity.
