About

A tender, tuberous perennial producing a single, large, deeply cut, dark green leaf on a purple-mottled stem after the flower appears. The inflorescence, which may appear without leaves from the bare tuber, consists of a large, purple-mottled green spathe surrounding a foul-smelling, elongated, maroon-purple spadix. A dramatic and curious aroid for a warm, sheltered border or conservatory.

About the genus
