About
Platanus orientalis, the oriental plane, is a very large, spreading, deciduous tree with a short, massive trunk and attractively flaking bark in grey, brown and cream. Deeply palmately lobed leaves are produced in spring. Inconspicuous flowers are followed by clusters of bristly, ball-like fruits. One of the longest-lived and most majestic of all trees for a large, sunny garden or landscape.
