About

Phalaris arundinacea, reed canary grass, is a vigorous, rhizomatous perennial grass forming extensive colonies of upright stems to 1.5 m, bearing narrow, linear, mid-green leaves to 35 cm and narrow panicles of pale-green flower spikelets in summer. Can spread extensively � best planted in containers or where space allows. The variegated cultivar 'Picta' (gardener's garters) is more ornamental and less vigorous.
