Penstemon isophyllus, the equal-leaved penstemon, is an upright, woody-based perennial to 70 cm with narrow, evergreen leaves and one-sided panicles of slender, tubular, bright reddish-pink flowers 3�4 cm long, streaked crimson in the paler throat. A beautiful and rewarding penstemon for a sunny, well-drained border.

Penstemon are deciduous or evergreen perennials or subshrubs with simple, narrow leaves and racemes or panicles of tubular, bell-shaped or funnel-shaped flowers in summer and early autumn, in shades of red, pink, purple, white and bicolours. Excellent plants for sunny, well-drained borders.
