About
An upright, bushy perennial to around 90cm high with dark emerald foliage divided into oval to lance-shaped leaflet. Single flowers borne in late spring and early summer comprise a bowl of pinkish-purple outer petals surrounding a central cluster of yellow stamens.

CultivationBest in a deep, fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist but well-drained in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade. May need support (see staking perennials). See herbaceous peony cultivation
