About

A dwarf, tap-rooted perennial from rocky, subalpine to alpine habitats in Colorado with finely divided, ferny, mid-green leaves and short, erect stems bearing compact umbels of small, yellow, star-shaped flowers in summer. A choice and little-cultivated native American umbellifera for a cool, very well-drained rock garden or alpine house.

About the genus

Oenanthe are perennials with a preference for damp ground, marshes or water. Hollow stems are shiny and can grow up to 2m tall. Leaves are triangular, shiny and bright green and flowers are arranged in small white clusters. Brown, rugby-shaped seeds follow the flowers.
