About

This large evergreen tree, up to 30m high in its native environment, with a conical habit when young, and linear, flat, glossy dark green leaves to 2.5cm long, positioned radially around the stems. Male cones are small, and held in hanging clusters; seed cones are long, upright, reddish or purple maturing to brown, and remain on the tree for several years.

About the genus

Nothotsuga includes herbaceous and sometimes woody species grown for their ornamental merit. The genus is represented in gardens by selected species and cultivars suited to a range of growing conditions
