About

Narthecium ossifragum, the bog asphodel, is a rhizomatous, mat-forming perennial wildflower with flattened, iris-like tufts of leaves to 30 cm and spikes of rich-yellow, star-shaped flowers attractive to bees in summer. The whole plant turns a rich, dark orange in autumn as the red seed capsules ripen. An ornamental native wildflower for a moist, acidic bog garden or pond margin.
