Muehlenbeckia complexa, the necklace vine, is a vigorous, deciduous climber forming dense masses of slender, wiry, interlaced stems to 3 m or more. Small, variable, dark-green leaves are borne along the stems in roundish, heart-shaped and fiddle-shaped forms. Greenish flowers in small spikes in autumn are followed on female plants by small, waxy-white perianths enclosing shining black nutlets. An ornamental and fast-growing climber for a sunny or partly shaded wall or fence.
