About the genus

This genus comprises approximately 60 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, primarily valued for their prominent, tufted flowers resembling bottle brushes, typically in red, but also available in orange, yellow, or white. Due to their sensitivity to frost, these plants thrive best in conservatories, although they can be found growing outdoors in regions like the Scilly Isles or West Cornwall, where frosty conditions are infrequent.
