About

A tropical evergreen shrub from the high mountains of Borneo, with small, leathery, broadly elliptic, dark green leaves and small, urn-shaped flowers in short racemes, followed by small berries. Named after the American botanist Merritt Fernald, it is a rare specialist subject for cool, humid, montane glasshouse conditions.

About the genus

Meliosma includes herbaceous and sometimes woody species grown for their ornamental merit. The genus is represented in gardens by selected species and cultivars suited to a range of growing conditions
