About
Maytenus boaria, the maiten, is an evergreen tree to 10 m in cultivation � often a large shrub � with an oval crown of slender, drooping branches and narrowly lance-shaped, shining, mid-green leaves to 5 cm long. Small, aromatic, greenish-white flowers are produced in leaf axils in spring, sometimes followed by small, fleshy, red fruits. An elegant, willow-like tree for a sheltered, sunny garden.
