About

Annual species to about 30cm tall, with feathery, dissected, grey-green leaves, sweetly-scented when crushed. Forms colonies in disturbed soil, especially in waste places, along tracks and paths. Produces yellowish-green, dome-shaped flowerheads with white papery bracts, from early summer onwards, pineapple-scented when crushed.

About the genus

Matricaria are a genus of hardy annuals with a pleasant aroma, often found in rock and herb gardens. They have erect stems with many branches and plentiful bipinnate leaves. Flowers are daisy-like and symmetrical and mainly white with yellow capitula.
