About
Mammillaria plumosa, the feather cactus, is a clustering cactus forming a mound of globose stems to 6 cm in diameter, completely hidden by the dense, white, feathery radial spines. Creamy-white or dull-pink flowers 1.5 cm appear in late summer. One of the most distinctive and appealing of all mammillarias for a sunny greenhouse bench.
About the genus
Mammillaria are small to medium-sized, spherical or cylindrical cacti, often in clusters, with many prominent tubercles bearing clusters of spines, and funnel-shaped flowers in a ring near the apex of the stem in spring. One of the most popular genera of cacti for a sunny greenhouse bench or windowsill.
