About
Upright deciduous tree about 6-8m tall, with mid-green leaves to 15cm long. In mid-spring it bears very large, scented, goblet-shaped flowers to 23cm wide, with unfurling 8-10 tepals, pinkish-white with a red base outside and a white interior, from a distance the flower appears pale pink.

CultivationGrow in moist but well-drained neutral to acid soil in full sun or partial shade with shelter from cold winds. Flowers may be damaged by late frosts. Will grow in moist alkaline soils. See magnolia cultivation for further advice
