About
Vigorous, upright, deciduous tree, to 6m tall, with oval mid-green leaves up to 10cm long. Before the leaves, in mid-spring, it produces large, star-shaped flowers, up to 20cm across, with 9 to 12 broad, spreading petals, deep purple-pink outside, paler within.
