About

A tufted, semi-evergreen perennial to about 40cm tall from mountain habitats in the western Himalaya and Afghanistan with petiolate (petiolata), broadly ovate, mid-green basal leaves and branching stems bearing many small, star-shaped, white to pale pink flowers with prominent blue-spotted petals in late summer and autumn. A graceful and unusual Swertia for a moist, cool, partly shaded position.

The foliage can be aromatic, sometimes with an unpleasant smell. Spikes of creamy-white to yellow flower clusters may be seen in summer
