About

Lilium mackliniae, the Manipur lily, is an upright bulbous perennial to 60 cm with slim, leafy, sometimes purple-tinged stems and narrowly lance-shaped, dark-green leaves. In summer it produces up to eight pale-pink, bell-shaped flowers to 5 cm across on each stem � a refined and rewarding lily for a sheltered, well-drained border.

Lilium are bulbous perennials producing erect, often tall stems bearing whorled or scattered leaves and terminal racemes or umbels of bowl-shaped, trumpet-shaped, funnel-shaped or turk's cap flowers, often fragrant, in white, yellow, orange or red tones. Hardy and ornamental bulbs for borders and woodland gardens.

Care notes

CultivationThis is a stem-rooting species; plant at a depth of at least three times the height of the bulb. Grow in humus rich, well-drained soils improved with leaf mould or well-rotted organic matter, prefers light shade but will tolerate full sun
