About
Laelia anceps, the two-edged laelia, is a classic Mexican epiphytic orchid producing flattened pseudobulbs and slender, arching spikes bearing one to five large, pale-to-deep-rose-pink flowers with a darker, mauve-purple lip to 10 cm across in winter. One of the most popular and floriferous of all the Mexican laelias for an intermediate to cool heated greenhouse.
About the genus
Laelia are mostly epiphytic orchids from Central and South America, especially Mexico and Brazil, producing pseudobulbs and racemes or sprays of showy, often fragrant flowers in shades of pink, mauve, purple, white and red. Grown in intermediate to warm heated greenhouses.
