Jacaranda mimosifolia, the green ebony tree, is a fast-growing, deciduous, rounded tree to 15 m tall with fern-like leaves to 45 cm comprising many small, lime-green leaflets. Spectacular trusses of blue-purple, trumpet-like flowers 5 cm across appear in spring and early summer before or with the new leaves, followed by woody seed pods. One of the most beautiful flowering trees for a frost-free, sunny garden.
