Holcus mollis, creeping soft grass, is a softly hairy, rhizomatous perennial grass forming spreading mats of narrow, grey-green leaves and loose panicles of pale, purplish-green spikelets in summer. The cultivar 'Albovariegatus' has attractively white-striped leaves and is widely grown as an ornamental ground-cover grass.
