About

Heliconia are dramatic, evergreen, rhizomatous perennials from tropical America and the Pacific, growing 0.5�4.5 m tall. Long, paddle-shaped leaves form clumps and, with age, arching stems bear the spectacular, waxy, boat-shaped bracts in brilliant reds, oranges and yellows � among the most exotic inflorescences in the plant world. Grown in heated glasshouses and tropical gardens.
