About
Gloxinia perennis, Canterbury bells, is a bushy, tender, rhizomatous perennial to 1.2 m with glossy, toothed leaves to 20 cm long, often flushed red beneath. From early summer to mid-autumn it produces purple-blue, bell-shaped flowers with violet bases � a refined and long-flowering conservatory plant for a warm, sheltered position.

Gloxinia are rhizomatous or tuberous perennials from South America with broad, velvety or glossy leaves and large, bell-shaped flowers in purple, pink or white. Grown as ornamental houseplants and conservatory plants.

CultivationUnder glass grow in a humus-rich potting compost in bright indirect light with high humidity. When in growth water freely and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2 or 3 weeks.
