Taiwania

Taiwania cryptomerioides is an evergreen tree that typically grows in a columnar or conical form. In its natural habitat, it can exceed heights of 50 meters, but it usually remains shorter when cultivated. The bark is dark grey-brown and peels off in strips. Young branches are slender and droop slightly, featuring juvenile leaves that are blue-green and shaped like awls or sickles, which become more scale-like as the tree matures. Mature specimens develop cylindrical cones measuring up to 12 millimeters in length.
