Stenocereus dumortieri is a sizable cactus that can reach heights of up to 15 meters in its natural habitat, although it typically grows smaller when cultivated. This species features upright, branching stems that are blue-green in color and have 5 to 8 distinct triangular ribs. The areoles are equipped with yellowish-white spines. In the summer, mature specimens bloom at night, showcasing short petals that range from pale green to white. After flowering, they yield oval red fruits.
