Melothria pendula

Melothria scabra is a vigorous herbaceous perennial vine often cultivated as an annual. It can reach heights of 2.5 to 3 meters and features coiled tendrils. The leaves are rough to the touch, measuring 3 to 7 centimeters in length and exhibiting three to five lobes. During the summer, it produces small yellow flowers roughly 4 millimeters in diameter. The plant yields olive-shaped fruits that typically measure around 2.5 centimeters, though they can grow up to 4 centimeters long. These dark green fruits are marked with lighter green stripes and appear in late summer to early autumn. They are edible and have a crunchy texture with a tart cucumber-like flavor.
