Jubaea is a genus of palms found in the southwestern regions of South America. These palms feature a solitary trunk and have pinnate foliage, reaching heights of 20 to 25 meters.

Jubaea chilensis is a palm species characterized by its gradual growth, often attaining a height of 25 meters. It features a solitary trunk that exhibits scars and cracks, presenting a grey appearance. The fronds can extend up to 5 meters, consisting of numerous slender, stiff, folded leaflets that range in color from yellow-green to dark green. During the summer, this palm produces small, bowl-shaped flowers in a dull purple and yellow hue, arranged in sprays that can reach lengths of 1.5 meters. These are succeeded by woody, yellow fruit.
