Gilia tricolor is a compact annual that develops a low mound of delicate, finely divided green foliage. In late spring, and occasionally again in summer, it produces solitary or small clusters of saucer-shaped flowers. These blooms are pale violet with yellow centers surrounded by dark purple patterns, appearing on slender, upright stems.
