A dwarf, tufted, alpine Saussurea from high Himalayan habitats with a solitary, compact, button-like, purple flowerhead borne on a very short stem above a tight rosette of linear, dark green leaves in summer. A choice and rarely grown high-alpine specialist for a very well-drained, cool alpine house.
