About

Genista aetnensis, the Mount Etna broom, is a large, elegant, deciduous shrub or small tree to around 45 m, with slender, arching, leafless-looking, rush-like, bright-green shoots and very sparse, small leaves. In mid to late summer, it is smothered in bright-yellow, aromatic, pea-like flowers along the entire length of each graceful, drooping shoot. One of the finest and most ornamental large brooms.
