An evergreen, suckering shrub to 1m in height with oval dark green leaves up to 4cm long. These are followed by dark purple berries. In late spring and early summer, small heather-like white bell-shaped flowers appear.

CultivationGrows well in acidic, naturally peaty soils in partial shade. Will tolerate full sun if soil is constantly moist. Remove suckers to restrict growth. Requires a male plant nearby to produce berries
