About

A large, deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree to about 8m from the Himalaya and Tibet with broadly ovate, finely serrate, mid-green leaves, pendulous male catkins in spring, and distinctive, bristly (tibetica), hedgehog-like fruiting clusters enclosing one to three edible nuts in autumn. A handsome and ornamental hazel for a large woodland garden.
