About

Gasteria batesiana, Bates' gasteria, is a compact, stemless succulent with thick, rough-textured, dark-green, fleshy leaves marked with irregular bands of small white dots. Arching flower stems carry lines of pendant, tubular pink flowers with pale yellow tips in spring. Young plants grow leaves in opposite pairs, maturing to develop clusters of rounded rosettes. A rewarding and ornamental succulent for a sunny windowsill or cactus house.

About the genus

Gasteria, the ox tongues, are stemless, succulent perennials forming clumps of rosettes of fleshy leaves � often two-ranked and typically spotted or banded � and producing racemes of pendulous, tubular flowers. Tolerant of shade, they are easy and rewarding succulents for indoor growing.
