About
A subspecies of Emory's barrel cactus, forming a stout, solitary, barrel- to columnar-shaped cactus to about 60cm tall, with strongly ribbed, grey-green stems bearing stout, hooked central spines and a ring of shorter, straight radial spines. Large, funnel-shaped, deep yellow to orange flowers appear at the crown in summer. A choice and impressive cactus for a warm, dry, well-drained position in full sun.
