The young branches exhibit a zigzag pattern, while the immature leaves are spaced apart and feature shallow lobes. As the tree ages, it transitions to a rounded crown, with mature leaves that are thick and shiny, displaying irregular serrations along their edges. In spring, this species produces clusters of fragrant, creamy white blooms. If pollination occurs, female specimens will bear small black berries following the flowering period.
