About

Euphorbia ammak is a large, tree-like succulent from Arabia producing deeply ribbed, candelabra-like stems armed with spines. A dramatic architectural plant for a heated greenhouse, conservatory or frost-free garden.

About the genus

Euphorbia, the spurges, are an extraordinarily diverse genus of annuals, perennials, shrubs and succulents producing milky sap and small flowers held within cupped, often brightly coloured bracts. They range from tiny alpine cushions and giant tree-like succulents to familiar garden perennials and houseplants.

Care notes

CultivationGrow indoors in equal quantities of peat-free, loam-based potting compost and grit in full light. Water moderately when in growth and keep dry in winter. In the growing season feed a low nitrogen liquid fertiliser 2 or 3 times. See houseplant cacti and succulent cultivation for more details.
