About

Euonymus japonicus, the evergreen spindle, is a densely branched, glossy-leaved, evergreen shrub or small tree to 4 m with rich-green, oval, leathery leaves. Small, greenish flowers in spring are rarely followed by pink and orange fruits. One of the most versatile of all evergreen hedging and topiary shrubs, tolerating coastal exposure and urban conditions well.

About the genus

Euonymus, the spindle trees, are deciduous or evergreen shrubs and small trees with simple leaves, small flowers, and ornamental capsular fruits that split to reveal brightly coloured seeds. Several species offer exceptional autumn colour.
