A medium-sized, evergreen rhododendron from western China forming a compact to large shrub to about 2�3m, with elliptic, dark green, glossy leaves and trusses of funnel-bell-shaped, white or pale pink to rose flowers in spring. A rare species for a cool, sheltered woodland garden.
