About
A large, evergreen tree from southeastern Australia (Australian beech) to about 20m tall with broadly ovate, rounded, silver-blue to blue-grey, sessile, clasping juvenile leaves and smooth, grey or red-brown, streaked, patchy bark. White to cream flowers open in spring. An ornamental and widely grown species, valued for its striking round blue-grey leaves.
