Epidendrum parkinsonianum is a pendent epiphytic Epidendrum with strap-shaped, sword-like leaves hanging downward and producing very large, fragrant, green-and-white flowers with a prominently fringed white lip. One of the most strikingly architectural and fragrant of all the epidendrums.

About the genus

Epidendrum are a diverse genus of over 1,800 epiphytic and terrestrial orchids native to tropical and subtropical America. They produce reed-like or cane-like stems bearing leaves along their length and clusters of flowers at or near the stem tips. Free-flowering and easy to grow, they are popular orchids for a heated conservatory or greenhouse.
