About
Enkianthus perulatus, dodan-tsutsuji, is a densely branched, medium-sized, deciduous shrub with egg-shaped leaves turning brilliant crimson red in autumn. Clusters of petite, pure-white, urn-shaped flowers are produced in abundance in spring. One of the most reliable of all shrubs for pure-white flowers and outstanding autumn colour in a woodland garden.
About the genus
Enkianthus are deciduous shrubs from East Asia producing simple, alternate leaves that often colour brilliantly in autumn, and pendulous clusters of small, urn- or bell-shaped flowers in spring or early summer. Excellent woodland garden shrubs for a moist, slightly acidic soil.
