About

Enkianthus campanulatus, redvein enkianthus, is an upright, deciduous shrub to around 3 m tall with whorled, elliptic, fine-toothed leaves that turn brilliant red, orange and yellow in autumn. Pendant clusters of small, cream or reddish, urn-shaped flowers with red-veined markings appear in late spring to early summer. One of the finest of all flowering deciduous shrubs for both spring flower and autumn colour.

Enkianthus are deciduous shrubs from East Asia producing simple, alternate leaves that often colour brilliantly in autumn, and pendulous clusters of small, urn- or bell-shaped flowers in spring or early summer. Excellent woodland garden shrubs for a moist, slightly acidic soil.
