About
Elodea canadensis, Canadian pondweed, is a fast-growing, submerged aquatic perennial with branched stems clothed in close-set, recurved, rich-green leaves. It oxygenates and clarifies pond water but spreads vigorously. Note: this plant is listed on Schedule 9 of The Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order as an invasive non-native species and is banned from sale.

Elodea are submerged, aquatic perennials with erect or spreading, branched stems bearing bright-green leaves in whorls of three. Excellent pond oxygenators, though some species are considered invasive outside their native range.
