A slender, erect to trailing, columnar cactus to about 1m or more tall from Mexico and Bolivia with stems bearing dense, fine, hair-like, white to yellow spines, and funnel-shaped, red to orange flowers in summer. A choice, free-flowering Cleistocactus for a sunny glasshouse or frost-free garden.
