About
A semi-evergreen or deciduous, large shrub or small tree from mountainous China (sweet-scented butterfly bush) to about 5m tall with variable, large, lance-shaped, grey-hairy leaves and panicles of small, sweetly fragrant, pale lilac to purplish-pink flowers with orange throats in late spring and early summer. A valuable and scented species for a warm, sheltered, sunny border.
