A medium-sized, deciduous to semi-evergreen, winged-stemmed shrub to about 1.5m from South America with flat, leaf-like, broadly winged (sagittalis, arrow-shaped) green stems functioning as photosynthetic organs, reduced leaves, and clusters of small, creamy-yellow, daisy-like flowerheads in summer. A rare and botanically unusual shrub for a warm, sheltered, frost-free position.
